Thanks for posting the pix, certainly an interesting car and story behind it.  I agree it is $75K away from being restored, so with $75K purchase price that puts you up into serious $$$ at $150K before transportation, etc.  As Rick on Pawn Stars likes to say, asking price on the internet is one thing, selling price is another---just because someone asks $250K for a car doesn't mean they can get it.  I agree the SE with power windows should add some value to the car.  B5 is also a strong color.  Then again, the car is an automatic with the 8.75 rear end.  A four speed would be worth more, and figure a shaker option could be at least as desirable as the SE & power windows?

As frame of reference, here is a # matching 70 Challenger 4 speed / Dana with shaker, full documentation, and restored to show condition.  The asking price is $165K.  My guess is $150K would buy this car.

I would take a real Shaker before a SE.  I've had both and I regret getting rid of the real shaker most.  75K to restore this car is probable on the low side.  I would bet close to 90K to get it done right with date code correct parts being restored back to OE.  75K would be a really nice resto, but not be worth as much when you go to sell it.  I think 60K is the fair price for both parties.  If this was a shaker or a 4 speed we would be talking right now.  75K for a 8 3/4 & auto and I'm going to keep looking.  Just being honest as a real buying in the market.

Yes, Neil you were right.  I should have never sold that real Shaker Cuda!   Someday I'll find another.

I agree with what your saying on it being a highly priced restoration including the purchase price
But also keep in mind that a cars value is based on low production numbers
the lower the number the more valuable the car
see stats listed below Search Result For "Js29R0"

VIN #   Trans   Year   Model   Body Style   Engine   Remarks   Produced
JS29R0   AUTO   1970   CHALLENGER R/T SE   2 DR S/HDTP   426-8      37
JS29R0   AUTO   1970   CHALLENGER R/T SE   2 DR S/HDTP   426-8   C N - SEE LEGEND BELOW   4
LEGEND
C - Canadian Order
E - Export Order
N - Not Broken Down by Transmission in Totals
K - Known to Exist
Z - 1971 Cuda Convertible has an additional 26 Export vehicles ordered of various engine/transmission combinations not accounted for in totals.

only four ever made it into Canada
and the breakdown was 2 automatics and 2 four speeds
so really it's a 2 of 4 cars

that's a very rare car I think

Rarity does not always relate to valuable. There was 19 R/Ts and 3 Convertables and 4 R/T S/E Hemi Challengers sold into Canada.  This Challenger needs more than just a restoration. It will take years to put the Challenger back together and will cost plenty to do so. It looks like the car has been sitting outside for a while and being open in many places is not a good thing. Back in 1976 if the motor was hurt why not just take it out and to Beatty and Wood in Toronto and get it rebuilt. What happened to the fenders and the trunk lid. One good thing is it has documentation and is kind of complete but most parts need replaced. It will take a large amount of money to put this car back together unless you have the skill to do a lot of the work yourself.

I agree the needs a total restoration
I still think the car is very rare and to the right buyer would be a prize in anyone's collection
The engine was pulled one sleave replaced bored and honed but was never put back together
98 % of the parts are there even the old original fenders and trunk lid is still available

adding some pics of the NOS parts
will try to take some new pics of the engine this weekend and post them

I have 4 very interested buyers right now so just waiting who strikes first

Hope it stays in Canada too :canada:

Well one on the interested buyers is from Oakville very close to home

I'd love to see it stay here in Canada too
It would be nice to see it at some local car shows when done

But the bottom line is money talks
so we'll see what happens

Is it still offers over 75k only?  What's the highest offer so far if you don't mind me asking?
