I work in a University Hospital Operating Room on the neurosurgery service.  I help with surgeries removing brain tumors nearly every day for the past 14 years.  I have learned to tune it out to do my job.  After reading your updates, it really hits home for me and I truly feel sad for you and your family.  I hope for a better day for Owen.  J

I hope and pray Owen will improve.  Sorry to hear that he has the resistant type of cancer cells.

Is the chemo he is getting taking orally or through an IV?  If orally, if he continues to tolerate well with the NG tube feedings that may help lessen the side effects of the chemo hopefully.

I know when I don't feel well when I had issues distraction and rest helped the most.  Distraction like watching TV or something to keep my hands busy helped me not to think of how I was feeling.  Reading might sometimes make one feel dizzy but you can still read to him.

He has a central line.(double Hickman) The chemo is given through the lines. This new chemo is supposed to focus on the spinal fluid.

We are back at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital tonight. They did a CT scan today and the ventricles look a little larger then before. Owen might be going back into surgery in the morning to replace the shunt. They may just try flushing or reprogramming this one. We don't know yet.

Hang in there in little man. Hang in there BIG man.

Hang in there.

If there is anything we can do, let us know. I've had a few surgeries at Le Bonheur and can say that they take great care of their patients. Owen is in good hands there.

Owen had surgery today. The tube that goes from the shunt into the brain was clogged. They had to replace that tube. His head is still hurting tonight. I assume that's due to the surgery. Hopefully his bad headaches are behind him.
