my worst fear
« on: December 15, 2012 - 11:08:09 PM »
This really isn't the place for personal problems but typing this out is really the only thing keeping me sain right now.  Doctors found a tumor in my 3 year olds brain this afternoon.  He's just getting out of surgury now.  The next week will be critical.  Please keep him in your thoughts!

Darren

I work in the operating room assisting our neurosurgeons every day.  Please know that the doctors and nurses taking care of your child are trying very hard to do everything they can to help.  The brain is an amazing organ, and children have an ability to recover with out problems since their pathways are not fully developed.  Pray for a good pathology report and keep faith in your heart.  Time will tell.  I will pray for you and your family.

Owen had been vomitting almost every morning since Thanksgiving...he felt fine the rest of the day. Doctors prescribed a couple medications that had no effect. Yesterday, his head really started hurting so we brought him into the ER.  After the bloodwork turned up negative for the usual causes, he was transported to U of I hospitals and was given a ct scan.  That showed the tumor.  He had emergency surgury last night to install tubes in his head.  The tumor was blocking the drainage of fluid from his brain...causing the headaches.  He just went in for a MRI a few minutes ago.  They are planning to opperate on Monday to remove the tumor.  He's been sedated since the first surgury.  I hope I can talk to him in a couple hours.
