Trunk lids
« on: March 05, 2005 - 10:39:17 AM »
Has any one used the after market trunk lid yet?
Do they fit or are the a piece of junk?
My trunk lid is too rust to fix.

Thanks

Sorry I don't have the answer, but I too am wondering the same thing.  I haven't really heard any feedback as to how well these things are reproduced.

Hi,
My body guy ordered two.
The first one he ordered he refused (lite, and needed more work than the original)
The second was better.
He still had to do body work on it though.
This pic show a smear of plastic going on, Dolores (the older woman) is only in the shot as a joke they were playing on me.

I ordered an aftermarket one and it fit good but have heard that this is not always the case.

Mine had a tinny dent in a hard to fix place but apart from that it wasn't bowed, bent and the fit was spot on.

I have an aftermarket one on my 71 and it is a real POS. it fits OK, but is very flimsy and it's obviously made of thinner sheetmetal. I have an original one to use as a replacement when i redo the car in a couple of years.

I got mine local here in Michigan and it fit just fine as far as I know!  Body man never said anything bad about it!  Here is the link:
