Drove my first Musclecar!
« on: March 05, 2005 - 05:43:14 PM »
W :o W... do I really need to get a Mopar!

I drove my dad's 72 Olds 442 for the first time today. Yeah, the steering was loose, yeah, the body lean was more apparent then in my Taurus... but W :o W, he let me take it on a great little straightaway near my house and lay into it. The acceleration is amazing with a V8... I NEED TO GET A CAR!!! :patriot:

Right!!! I always think of it in qtr mile times

You think your car is fast until you go to the track and go 16.5 seconds  :grinyes:

Then you spend a ton of money and get down into the mid 14s

Then you get a real muscle car....read (mopar)

It's not the burnouts that count, it's when you finally hook up :driving:

Sounds like you had fun today.  Hopefully you will be able to drive it more over the summer.  Nothing like a nice ride to get you in the musclecar mood.   :burnout:   :burnout:   :burnout:

The first Big Block that I ever drove was Joe's 70 Cutlass 455.  Man that thing moves.  I only drove it once last year, too busy driving the Cuda, but look forward to taking it for a spin again soon.  The first Musclecar I ever drove (if it counts) was a 73 Duster /6.

 :grinyes:  Perhaps now Matt you won't be so picky, remember their are "other" Mopar muscle cars than just the 70 and 71 E-Bods, believe me, some are even more comfortable and better handling, lol. I probably just got myself in a big pile of "dodo" trouble.  :dontknow:

For those that have not driven all the body styles and have not yet had an E-body, the other Mopars will suffice so we may hoard all of the best Ma Mopar ever made!

Fastest muscle car I've ever been in - 6 pack Charger.
I was cruising in my 69 Bee clone at the time and broke down.
He picked me and dropped me off at my house and even gave me ride back. And was it a killer ride!!
My uncles always have had muscle cars ( a lot og GM, Chevelles and Camaros ) so since I was little I've been around and in them. I WAS HOOKED AND YOU NEVER FORGET!!
Fastest car ever, rode in a Viper - man, hold on!

Congrats!!

I got to go for a ride in a Viper once too.  Joe's old boss had one and he swapped cars for the weekend with a friend of Joe's from work (the guy I know with the awesome 70 Challenger 440-6).  The boss got the Chally for the weekend and my buddy Rob got the Viper.  I have to say, it was a fun experience.

Actually what I was referring to was the fact that Matt has been looking for quite some time, and I pm'd him a message a while back about a car for sale and he thanked me but said he was holding out for a 70 or 71 E-bod, so since he thought that his Dad's car was a blast I thought he may "lower" his standards a bit, lol

Well, I'm still looking for an e-bod, but I'm open to all years of Challenger, and, of course, 71 Cuda.

I don't consider that "lowering" my expectations.
