3 questions
« on: December 19, 2012 - 09:07:31 AM »
Hello, all!  I have 3 questions:

Q-1) Are the seals for the shifters shafts on the side cover of the 833 trans? (My cover is the 1971 and up "Interlock style" [date code is 4095] and my I believe mine show signs of leaking and I am wondering if I should replace);

Q-2) What are (or, where can I readily find) the Torque Specs for:
a) pressure plate bolts?; and,
b) flywheel bolts?;

Q-3) Is synthetic 85W-90 gear oil ever recommended over the Sta-Lube GL4 spec stuff recommended by Mopar (as long as the synthetic is also w/o additives)?

A huge shout-out to CP, 4-speed fish and everyone who's been helping me through my "tranny travails"

There is now and will forever remain a truly SPECIAL place in my heart for anyone going through a rebuild / repair/ resto project but ESPECIALLY for those of you assist us doing so!

HP_Cuda, your advice about Brewer's is spot on!

I cannot say enough good things about the way Brewer's does business, their whole philosophy and especially Wayne there. Heck, he coudl've easily (even largely ethically) sold me $2,000 worth of stuff. Instead, he listened (a lot, he don't say a lot but when he does, LISTEN! ;-) and he saved me $1,300 !!!

I am gonna go out of my way to sing Brewers' praises loud and far.

And, in addition to the awesome resource link already shared, here's Wayne's response when I spoke with hm just moments after I posted here:

"O-rings OR111 for the side cover arms $.95 ea, SCG037 side cover gasket $2.95.

Flywheel bolts get 55#, pressure plate 30#.

Synthetic is ok as long as it is classified GL4, such as MT90 Redline Synthetic.

Thanks,

Wayne/Dan"

Brewers just flat out rocks! I love doing business with down to earth folks and eager to help you instead of fleece you.

Glad you got it all worked out. I placed a 500 buck order just a few days ago from Brewers and if I'm lucky will get it just before Christmas!

I have dealt a lot with Both Brewers & Passon both are excellent companies to deal with . I have always believed that if you help someone they are very likely to buy from you but if you sell stuff that is not needed or rip people off they will never buy from you again & neither will people they know , it may seem like you lose $$ helping people for free but in the long run you have to come out ahead !
 With the intrlock covers the seals can be changed on the shifter shafts by removing the nylon spacer behind the lever & the seal sits inside of that so the cover doesn't have to be removed .

Wow. Based on that (which I believe and agree with myself) and as much as I've learned just reading through your old posts, I wish you the best of success and fulfillment!!! I shudder when I think how much time it would've taken me to learn what I have in just 2 months, pre- C-C.com!

Whoa . .  . there you go again, man . . . !
