...my great uncle used to make it in the woods behind his barn, it was a dry county and he made and sold lots of it...I was just a kid and he gave me some to try, couldn't even ride my bike back to the house...he had my dad drinking shine from 6 years old on, they drank together...I tried it enough when I was a kid to know I don't want any more of it...my dad used to make his own beer, it was pretty good

...one summer when I was visiting them,  a Moon-Car (tanker) lost contol on the curve next to my grandfathers grocery/drygoods store and it rolled over several times in the field, the car burned, then exploded, burning down much of my grandfathers corn field, never found the driver...

A lot of the old timers in Puerto Rico make it. Every year at Christmas it gets passed around. Not a huge fan of it myself, but I don't drink paint thinner either.

It must be  a universal thing, because even up here in the Great White North (Canada) they make 'shine. My old man once brought some home in Bruce County and besides the usual warnings about it's potency, he opined that the winter stuff wasn't as good as the summer stuff, because in winter they couldn't get the mud turtles to swim in the mash to keep it mixed up!!! Yowsir! The stuff tasted like liquid Dentyne and we finally got rid of it by pouring it into a batch of Purple Jesus at a party. Whew   :drunk:

Nothing beats a good bottle of shine.(Well Made)  I know of people that make it today. Seems a bottle always makes it to a Special occasion.
In fact I am sure There will be some at the Christmas Festivities. :droolingbounce:

Would come in handy when ice fishing.

Then you wouldn't feel a thing. Not even a fish nibbling.

Well, I do live in the mountains of North Carolina  :naughty: And I'm 5 minutes away from Wilkes County, NC where bootleggers got NASCAR started, and is the Moonshine capital of the world. Y'all ever need some, just hit me up hahaha  :grinyes:

Anyone try out Tim's recipe yet?

We can't buy it out here.   :banghead:

Somebody bring me a bottle if it's good.
I wanna try it if it gets good ratings.

Yep.

Burned like hell and it came with the usual disclaimer.  "It's an acquired taste. You will get used to it."

 Then :faint: it was over...

I had some while I was at a NASCAR event in Watkins Glen a few years ago.

They claimed it was Jimmie Johnston's Family Recipe.

I was bombed by the time I tried it.

I have since bought the legal bottles they sell in NY state and it's always a good thing to pass around at the cottage.

I've had Alabama vintage a couple of times; once in the 70s and once in the 90s.

Both times took my breath away, broke out in a quick sweat, runny nose and watery eyes  -  simultaneously!!

Warm aftertaste :eek4:   :drunk:

:wavingflag: I have had very good homemade moonshine and some really horrible  stuff. So today I wandered into the ABC store and saw Tim Smith stuff and figured why not...... UMMMM unless trying to start a fire it tastes like the stongest burning tequila from hell. But at 90 proof it will get the job done.  I will stick to my Jack or crown at that price
:wavingflag:  Quit being offended by everything, I am sure you are doing something that upsets me, but I am not complaining about you!!! It is a free county get over yourself!
