The main reason I stopped posting on Moparts was because of all the complaints I was receiving about posting pictures of my work.
Every time I would get a new Mopar into my shop I would post pictures of the progress...I would get a painted shell back from the body shop and have it fully assembled and turn key in about 2-3 weeks. I would show how much work was being done and how many hours it would take.

The complaints started coming in from other restorations shops, saying that their customers were now complaining using my posts as a guide line...."why's it take my car 3 months and 300 hours when Alan does it in 80 hours" etc...I just laughed at those....

Then these same guys complained to Moparts about my FREE advertising and that's when I was asked to stop posting....In fact that is when they made the decision that nobody was to put a web address to a business in their signature.

For the record....NOT ONE OF MY CUSTOMERS BOTH PAST OR PRESENT ever came from Moparts.com.....In fact 95% of my customer's have never even heard of Moparts.com.....

I have yet to restore a car for an American customer either....

I'm steady enough, and small enough that I don't need to advertise. All of my work has come from word of mouth and that's good enough for me...

I've also built my own web site which I control. I try to update it at least once a week, even if it means just adding a couple of new pictures....I suggest checking back often if that's the kinda stuff you enjoy checking out.

If there's an area here where I can post pictures of my work without fear of a backlash, then maybe I will do that with my V code Challenger.

Yes that's the one. Originally found on a beach in Peru. The car came to me with all the metal work done. I had it painted and restored the rest of the car....Neat piece, but the guy that restored it..lost his shirt on it... :pullinghair: .

It's now with a new owner in Western Canada.

I've watched you over at Moparts and have seen you do know more of the nuances of these vehicles.

When did you first get into Mopars and how many do you think you're restored since then?

My first Mopar was given to my by a neighbourhood friend....He gave me his 72 Barracuda parts car when I helped him work on his 70 Cuda. That would have been 1984, around the same time I got my first full time good paying job. I restored that car as a 340 modified with mags and such....That car is still around Milton ON area.

Since then I've restored 30+ Mopars most of which were E Bodies.  At one point I restored 12 E Bodies in about a 7 year period, more then any "big name" shop. Most are posted on my web site

I now can put a Cuda together in my sleep.... :blah:

Cool! I've known Max and his old man Dominic since they had the wee shop in town and Margaret answered the phone. I think you and I may have met one time when I was at the shop. I didn't know you were into the E bodies so much as it was usually a B in the shop whenever I went in there. We'll run into each other somewhere along the line. Have a Merry Christmas! Ian
