what are the differences between E-Body and B-Body k-frames?

I've heard they interchange but the steering box mount is on a different angle on the B-Body k-frames? Anyone have any pictures and/or specs on this?  :dunno:

I know a guy who swapped a E body k into a B body no issue , I assume the different angle forced the column to sit differently , any way someone asked if it could be done & I said yes because we did it & later the guy was pissed at me because he said it didn't work , I never found out exactly why .

I wonder what happens when a b frame is mounted to an e body  :clueless:  would this make the steeringwheel come down?   I wonder cause my 3 spoke is really close to the seat.  Could anyone measure distance from wheel to floor for me?  I have a six way in the lowest position and my legs almost touch the wheel...

I got 7"      Rimblow to seat straight down roughly would have to pull the seat for a measurement to the floor I assume about 14 to 15 inches.

I'm asking for a couple of reasons. Wondering how to ID it at say a swap meet, and if it will work, like will everything bolt in and wondering what (most important to me...)angle the steering box is at and how it will effect the front end geometry for handling. I'm guessing it will lower the center link as it's close to the oil pan as it is. Can't raise it much also as the torsion bars are in the way.
This of course is assuming it IS different?  :dunno:

Not sure but this guy has one and they are the same from 318 to 440 on a e-body 440-6 had a skid plate welded to the bottom.

I found this info on moparts site

E-body and '71-'72 B-body K-members interchange.

'70 B-body is different.

The steering box mounts at more of an angle on '66-'70 B-bodies.

The disc (tag) welded to the front has the last 2 digits of the part number I dont have a list but here are a few

# 52 is late 70 E-Body 318/340/383 & T/A
#74 is late 70&71 383/440 w/skid plate E-body
#74 is also 71 B&E Body V-8 (except hemi )W/Skid
#74 is also 73 E-body 318/340 W/skid plare

It's pretty clean.   The car is an original Florida car.  It has never seen salt roads.  It had 39,000 miles on the car.   They parked it.  Water got in and rusted it's way out for 15 years until the car wasn't good for anything but parts.  Quite a shame.  It was a 74 bronze 318 rallye car. The motor and trans are going to live on in a friends sons first car; a 72 Demon.  I'll check shipping on the K-Frame.
