Which headers for the 360 and why?
« on: December 26, 2012 - 10:42:16 PM »
Finally ready to buy headers for my 73 challenger with a 408, 727 and manual steering. What are the reviews (pros and cons) between the Hooker Super Comp 5115-1HKR ($695), Doug's Headers D453 ($605), and TTI340BE-C2 ($680).

TTI , best quality & fit , heavy materials too.
Dougs would be my second choice

I would assume diameter depends on peak horsepower.
500hp, maybe 1 and 7/8
600hp, maybe 2 inch
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I bought the TTIs for mine, great quality and craftmanship as well as fit.  I bought the full package, headers, collectors, and tailpipes.

Thanks for the help guys. All my dad can remember about headers is 30 years ago and cursing every time the gaskets blow. 410 dynoed at 515hp. Will any of them give any problems with steering or shift (console) linkages? Hoping for something not terrible to install. And will I need a mini starter?

You should be fine , TTi will clear steering & console shift linkages etc maybe the 70 with the column interlock , TTi has test fitted everything & will tell you what problems you may have , & they will work with either mini or regular starter

I went with Doug's for my 360.  They fit tight up into the car and look great.  I would go with TTIs if you need a larger primary runner for your motor.  But I think I did well with my choice.

 :iagree:
I also went with Dougs.  Cheaper than TTI, easy installation, good fit and ground clearance.  Hooker Super Comp are too close to spark plug wires #5 & #7 cylinders, and the larger pipe size is a crowded fit in places; I had a set and sold them, went with Dougs and have been happy.

:iagree:  I have TTI's on my Cuda and they fit great.
