HP   Are those 3.23's in nice shape?   Do you know their history?

I'd be very interested in what folks with a 440 and 3.55 gears gears are getting for milleage (I am planning on a road trip).   Also - what kind of rpms at different speeds?    Of course - tires matter - so that info too please :)

Thanks

The 3.23 gears are in great shape I got them local from another Mopar guy. My machinist friend checked them out and gave a thumbs up, no scoring or mega wear issues.

I believe with the 3.55 gears and 28" tires like the 275/60/15 you would be doing about 3300rpm at 70mph.

Maybe some others would chime in.

Lots of variables to consider , cam, carb, convertor slipage, etc, .... my old 440/727 got 10 MPG's with 3:55 and 255/60/15 tires
My new 451" with 2X's the power with OD 4L60 and 3:55 Dana so far is getting 17 mpg's  ( same tires)
