69 Charger Find
« on: January 01, 2013 - 01:18:53 AM »
This one is in Texas. The cover had rotted off of it when I last saw it 3 years ago. It's still pretty solid for sitting for so long. Just went and took this pic this weekend. Of course it's not for sale.

Lame all you can do is keep checking up on and and making sure the owner will call you if he thinks about selling.

Tell the owner to do something with it before it sinks too far into the ground!!!  I wonder if the frame is going to get rotted?

:iagree: PHIL,if he doesn't raise that up and get it on blocks/planks of some kind,it wont take for the underneath to start rotten away.it would be one sweet car when done..

IT would be a sweet car to get and i hope it doesn't ge t in the catergory of ''i'm gonna restore it one day'' and it rotts away.  :crying:

It seems there are more 68-70 chargers sitting around than any other mopar I can find.
No body wants to sell them.
I know of 5 in my little county alone and no one will sale. Some I've been trying to get for ten years or more.

Is that the original color of the car?
Have you been able to check it out?

YUP,I have been bugging my neighbor 5 houses down from me about selling his charger, not for sale, saving for his 16 yr old neice, etc, etc etc.this started 10 years ago.each time i walk by and the garage door is open i see more and more stuff piled up on it,thats how i noticed it years ago,all i could see was the tail lamps peaking through all the box's layed on top.oh well springs around the corner and the door should be up soon agian to go ask the question "FOR SALE YET" NEXT time maybe i will bring a hand full of cash.

Storing a car on grass or dirt is horrible for the under carriage, as the mositure buildup rots it out pretty quickly. If you find one that's decent, talk is cheap, so show up with cash and you may be able to pry it loose. B.J. makes everyone think they are sitting on a pile of gold.

I remember me and my dad finding a 59 el camino project car when I was a teenager. Asked the guy if it was for sale, and he said no. So we stopped in about once every 2 months to let him know we were still interested and to make sure he still had our phone number. Drove by one day and it was gone. So we stopped in to ask if he had moved it to a garage or sold it. Said he got sick of looking at it, and junked it lol. Sometimes I get pretty annoyed by those guys holding onto these cars for no reason lol, especially if they junk them!

Yeah, you just have to be there at the right time. I also know of a 70 cuda, 440 car, and a 69 roadrunner, a 68 charger, and a 72 duster. All "someday" cars.

Ask the owner if you can put the car up on blocks and off the ground because you would like to try and save it. Here in Australia we have the same problem . N0 ONE WANTS TO SELL  Keep at it donot give up good luck  :
