K-Frame Issue??? update!

Where are these mysterious extra pins on the K frame, can someone circle them?  I'll see if the 1974 manuals say anything about them.  But with only the 74 documents, I have nothing to compare it too

The first picture in the album has a full pic of the K.
On the bottom left of the picture just under the motor mount you can see the metal bending upwards.

This part sticking up beside the motor mount must be a 74 thing? I have no idea as to it's purpose?  Keeps wires away from exhaust?

74 did get a new part number. There doesn't seem to be anything that attaches to it.  The only thing that is in that area would maybe be the stock exhaust?

The car I just took apart was a 74 with roughly 38,000 miles on it.  It was stored beside a home and left to rust.  Nothing was connected to the posts on the k frame.

So, 73 gets bolted and 74 gets welded?

Weird.   It's a mystery.  Now I really want to know.

I looked at two 73's tonight.   Neither had the posts.  It must be a late 73 thing.

So they tapped a hole and bolted them on in late 73 and then for the 74 year they started welding them in. ....?

I have never found a reason for them to be added to the K frame & they sure get in the way

Ya I agree. I'd cut them off too. Clearance is scarce in that area especially with a BB. I wonder why/what they are for? Like why did Mopar go to all the trouble to add them ?

I just looked at my 74 K-frame.  I am sure they are reinforcements.  One is for the steering box and one is for the idler arm. The parts that stick up are angled metal to give the rest of the reinforcement piece strength.  It is an odd way to do it.  I guess they did not want to start from scratch with a new K-frame.  Maybe there were warrenty issues with K-frames cracking.  It's possible that there is a TSB about it.
