Looking for Input - Info on planning a big car show
« on: January 07, 2013 - 12:56:13 PM »
I'm in early talks around helping organize a large, annual car show in Florida, and I'm looking to get feedback and information about that idea. I'm listing some specific questions I have below, but feel free to add anything you think I should know.

1) Who here would be interested in attending such a show? How far away are you? Would the time of year play a huge role in your decision to attend?

2) Aside from c-c, are you part of any other groups where you could spread the word and generate interest?

3) Would you consider a taking a vacation in which the show was a part?

4) What are other factors that would influence your decision?

Well, I am thinking roller coasters, and Cedar Point has some of the best, but I'm looking at Disney World.

David,

I'm not going to be of much help here as even if you got the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models to attend the show, it is going to cost me a ton of $$$ to drive my '70 to Disney World.   :grinyes:

To be serious though, I think the time of year is a big factor. You wouldn't want to have this when it's real hot and humid(see Carlisle 2012 and the 102* temps.).    :eek4:

Definitely interested. They got some pretty sweet coasters there too! Have it in Melbourne and have a cruise in/party at Katfish's place?

Just a note, anyone with kids would have a hard time going if it was during school season. Have it on a vacation week or when school is out.

I guess another good question is "Would you attend even if you weren't bringing a car?"

David,

Having lived in Florida for most of my life I would have to agree tht when you plan the show is very important due to weather considerations.  Late November through early April are the best periods (lower temperatures and less chance of rain).

There are several car shows in and around the Orlando area.  One of the guys who is really into the car scene is Goody's dad.  He can give you a lot more information on shows in that area and about his own club, which can be found at:  http://musclecarflorida.ning.com/?xg_source=msg_mes_network

Hope this helps, and good luck.

MIKE

P.S.  By the way, give me enough lead time and I will go (if it's in Florida).

Best time for weather - from NOvember late through April late.   Then TONS of crappy rain..  and HEAT!
