Uh-Oh! Close call!

Check this out!! I was driving and got on it, was about at redline, which is only about 5500 rpm on my 440.  All of a sudden POW POW POW POW POW POW.... I pull over and leave the engine running, open the hood thinking I'll have a rod hanging out the side of the block or something.... thank goodness that wasn't the case!  ...I saw the spark plug shooting sparks out the side and shut the motor down.  Pulled the wire and was able to creep home on 7 cylinders, luckily I wasn't too far from home. 
I checked the plug and the ceramic part was cracked completely in two.  There are no cracks in the head and the oil looks normal, not milky or anything.  I'm pretty sure that I'm good internally, who knows.  I'm going to look better tomorrow and replace the plug to see how it will run.  Hopefully nothing is hurt, I'm not sure what would cause something like that, they're brand new plugs! Champion plugs.. I'll put up an update tomorrow, I'm thinking that I was having some sort of a misfire or something and didn't realize it, once I reved it up boom, the crack in the plug separated, who knows.  Here's a picture of what happened.  What would y'all do to check?

It was probably a bad spark plug or weakened installing it , I blew the center electrode out of a spark plug years ago , it simply pushed the center electrode out of the plug & broke the end off just like your did . so I doubt you havae any problem at all , put in a new plug & go .

I've blown the center out of a spark plug on a work van once. No biggie , just used an easyout and installed a new plug. All was good! Ran like a top!

That's exactly what happened! the electrode fell out the back, luckily nothing broke inside the cylinder.  I was scared that something was banging on top of the piston but after I removed it I could tell that only the cermaic on the outside was bad

 hate those surprises. BIG NOISE! you pull over, lift the hood, hearts beating fast, and you're wondering if its a $20 problem, or a $2000+ problem! At least I've wised up a little and carry a tool/wiring kit.

Yeah, luckily this problem was only a $1.99 problem! LOL

You do need to take care when installing Champion Spark Plugs, they are very weak at that point, if you don't have the socket square on the porcelain can crack.
