70 Trunk Molding Set on eBay - Correct????
« on: March 07, 2005 - 02:20:32 AM »
I know that I may be hitting myself in the foot inviting many people who are looking for this set to make the bids climb, climb, CLIMB but, hey, I have no choice I want to know if this molding set is correct? I know the trunk moldings should be rounded, but how "round" I'm not sure. So molding gurus get those hawk eyes at and help your kiwi mate....Plezzzzzzzzzzz  ;D The side pieces need work but I have seen them seperate, it's going to cost me by the looks of things $1,000 to get my complete set but sh!t, these things are hard to get.

So, does the trunik piece look like the rounded 70 style to you guys? I think it does but need a few helpers.

As always.

NZ,
I thought you knew everything about these parts by now. Those quarter pieces look correct if you ignore the dents. :ack:  I would like a close-up of the trunk trim though. That's a tough one to make out.

Hey NZ!!

Yes they are the right ones and they are getting hard to find. I got some on back order at year one for the second time. The guy may be right about not making them anymore.

The left one is pretty banged up but I saw a left one on ebay also today. Its pretty hard to get them straight again. I used my originals, popped out a couple dings and then sanded and polished them out. Probably they're more shiny now than original.

Good Luck!

Good to see you again mate.  ;)

Thanks, I have hopefully got April (Moderator from this board) ordering me some moldings from Jacks, he has a set.

I have seen plenty of L/H & R/H moldings but no trunks, thats the hard part.  :gripe:

Does anyone have a side-by-side comparison between the 70 style and the 71-74 style? Whats the difference between them?? I have the left and right outside trim that have been sitting in the my dad's garage for 25+ years and I dont know what year they are.

Maybe clean them up and post a photo here. I have a pretty good idea what the 70 looks like. Unless they put a ridge in the 71, then I would assume they are the same.

NZ, is Jacks on line? I could use a set myself.

Good to hear from yah!

Yip, but good luck getting them.  :ack: I have emailed since August last year long LONG story I had to get April our Moderator to call and order them, ship them to her then she'll ship them to me. They don't respond to emails.  :gripe:

Like wise mate, you should stick around more.  ;)

Killer, the '70 extensions were completely smooth.  The '71-'74's on the other hand, have a ridge or raised portion that runs towards the top leading edge.  it's kind of like the lower L-shaped plastic dash pieces, too.

Congrats on winning the auction NZ!  I saw you bidding on it and then win it. I guess the Jacks didn't work out?

I got a set for my 71 challenger about a year ago for 25 dollars, guess I got a deal then.  One of the side pieces has a ding in it but they are otherwise nice.  They were off a 70 challenger that a guy parted out.  It looks like they will fit on my 71, but is there a difference?

Yes,

There is a difference. The 71 has a ridge where the 70 just crowns in the middle.

Matt,
Looks like you should sell your 70 moldings, then turn around and buy a 71-74 set. You'll make a $400 profit. Gosh NZ, you really wanted those BAAAAAD.  :o :o :o

Haha I should.  Does anybody repro the 71-74 trim because I saw NZ said they stopped making the 70 ones.
