Hi RAF and welcome to the site. That's a very nice looking Barracuda! What have you done to your car during the 10 years that you have owned it? It looks great! I would like to see more pictures of it.
Thanks for the welcome!
So... what have I done?
First of all, you must imagine that ANY parts has to come from the States or even Canada
Something as simple as a bolt, and oil filter or a sparkplug has to be bought oversea
So I've done some body work, and redone de paint
Changed a craked windshiled
And put back so trims
Mostly, I've tried to not salvage to much the car
Since 383 Gran Coupe in 1971 seems to be around 115 units (coupe and convertible) and most of them have been transformed into doonors for clone 'Cuda, I've tried to keep the look close to the original
So, on the exterior look, it's quite close to the original (exept the grille in orange and the back panel in black... and the wheels)
I've redonne the interior, also close to the original... (again... exept the dashboard is now in autometers... and since a weel an hurst shifter)
So what have I done?...
All the electrical is new
The torqueflight have been replace by an CopeRacing street and strip + and 2800 stall
I've removed the 3.23 to put an 4.10 and ad on it a gearVendor
The brakes are front wilwood 4 pistons (to keep 15") and an Hydraboost
The drive shaft is now all aluminium 3"
All the bushing are polyurethane
Short ratio and stiffer power steering rebuilt
Stainless steel 2 1/2" exhaust magnaflow + eletrical qtp cutout
The engine is .40 overbore with 88cc Edelbrtock RPM heads
But... the main transformation is... now...
I wanted more power to be usable on the street
Most of my pals drives E-body with strokers
Since I had low compression heads, I've decided
I'll upgraded it with something that nobody has down here in France, a supercharger
So, I'm in the process of installing a D1SC from procharger store (+ the water cooling system)
I've reinforced the crank with a girdle
Rocker 1.6 from Hughes
M1 manifold
750 Holley (for supercharger)
MSD ignition
I had put the engine with a serpentine kit from march
since it's no possible to have a crank pulley for a supercharger with serpentine,
I'm having them custom made (I'll have them by the end of the month)
I'm swaping my 8 3/4 rear axle for an that came from an early B-body (don't know the donor!)
Including from Dr.diff a sure grip, rear disc, rear axle and a repositionning kit
Hotchkis subframe connector
And I'm transforming my old 489 case that used to be an 3.23 to an 3.73
At this point (today!) I've weld all the holes in the engine comparment, I've hide most of the electrical wiring
And hope to put back the engine in the car within a week...
(on this picture, the olders pulleys are on the engine)
