    1971 Challenger Convertible Drip Rail Question

    Hey guys,

    Not sure it’s called a drip rail but it makes sense to me to call it that.  Anyway in the pics of my 71 convertible (attached) you can see where I need to weld in some patches where the water sat on both sides of the convertible drip rail over the years.
     
    Rather than fabricating the pieces I’m trying to see it anyone makes that drip rail or would anyone have an old cannibalized convertible that they may be able to cut me about 15” +/- worth.  It doesn’t have to be from that exact location.  It can be from anywhere and I will splice it in.  Let me know.  Thanks

    Hey Dave,
    I don't have a drip rail for you but I do have a question,
    Where those rails dump into the qtr glass section, is there some form of hose that brings the water out?
    Mine just dumps behind the qtr glass, I would think it should be directed outside of the car.

    Fern,

    The water makes its way around the channel and dumps into the quarter below the 1/4 window.  That’s why the drain holes have to be unobstructed and you should put some type of undercoating / POR15 whatever you choose in there to prevent rust.

    PATCH IT, that is pretty much straight forward metal work.

    There is no replcement for that rail. even if there was, you would be better off saving what you have and patching those areas.
