looking at big brakes AMG/ brembo calipers
« on: January 09, 2013 - 12:10:48 AM »
I was looking around and came across another post on a different site and a few people there have built their own adapter to run Mercedes sl600 rotors and some 8 piston calipers made by brembo for AMG.
I pm'd a guy and he has been really helpful he started off with SRT8 calipers and used the large benz rotors which are close to 14", he said that the SRT calipers had to be machined down a little bit to accommodate the wider benz rotor.
So I looked up the specs on the factory SRT rotors and the have a bolt pattern of 5x4.52 (actually 5x115mm) has anyone here had a SRT rotor that they have tried to fit up? What is the inside diameter of the centering hole? FWIW I have a neighbor who has all the equipment to turn down a hub or make a true 5x4.5 bolt circle.
I tried to search but have limited computer skills and didnt turn up to much
Thanks for any help or insight
Jason

I assume your talking about "Feets" over on Moparts? You will also have to be carefull  with the rotor hat offset. Otherwise you will have issues with caliper clearance on your rims?

I'd talk to Cass from DrDiff and Andy F on Moparts they both have already been down this road?

Agreed. Unless you have a source to get the AMG parts for dirt cheap, for all the expense and effort you will be lots of effort and money ahead to simply pick up a kit from Andy or Cass. Andy's stuff is sold through Mancini Racing, Cass' stuff is sold through Dr Diff.

FWIW, the Viper calipers are also made by Brembo. As are a number of performance rides like WRX, Supras, etc.

I was considering using the cheaper srt calipers and seeing if I could fit the rotors to a drum brake hub. I need to find the center bore measurement on the srt rotor
