Lets say you have a stoker 500ci with a brand new hemi 18 spline 4 speed, a Dana rear end with 3.55 gear and you want to go out on the highway And play where the speed limit is 80?   What would you do or change to achieve this speed or higher?

I was thinking the taller tires too if you didn't want to spend too much $$$.

What about those Gear Vendors deals?  Would that work in this application?

I wonder if Brewers or Passon make and OD gear cluster to make a OD out of your existing transmission?

OD would be great, but can get about 10 MPH by going from 3.55 to 3.07?   500ci should feel real good with 3.23's, but that would only pick you up about 6 mph at 2,900.  Guess you have to spend the $ and get OD.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

With Passon or Tremec ratio offerings you are are going to be wearing earplugs by the time you get up to 65. If you want to go no faster than 80 then get a 5 speed. If you want to have pedal left at 80 then you will definately need to look into GV or a 6 speed.

I have 3.55's and my TKO's 5th gear isn't where I want it to be. Do you want to keep up with the 80 mph traffic or do you want to weave through it?

I had the Passon hemi OD with 3.73 rear and was doing just under 3000 @ 80 mph. Sold that now and am waiting for his new 5 speed to get here. Nothing wrong with the 4 speed OD and it is tough. If your engine has a good balance then you should be about 2600 with 26" tires. Overall I would recommend you go on the waiting list for Jaimie's 5 spd. It is a 100% drop in replacement for an 18 spline unit.

All good ideas . . . problem is I just bought this 18 spline hemi 4 speed trans . . . . and as far as I know, 3.55 is the smallest gear ratio available for a dana . . . . I was thinking of taking out the dana and putting in an 8 3/4 rear with a smaller gear but looking for opinions . . . .  :clueless:

If cost is of no concern:

Get the 5 speed

If cost is a concern:

8 3/4 with 3.23 gears and taller tires

I have another car with 3.5 gears/auto and when on the freeway I usually do 70mph average (65mph limit) and I'm right at 3100-3200rpm and its right at the beginning of the power band, which is fun in certain situations but overall it kinda gets on your nerves after awhile.

I heard there is a 3.2 gearset for the Dana But I tried to locate one with no success . Maybe BS Cuda @ Driveline can help although they could not locate a set for me . An 8 3/4 does offer a lot of alternatives , you can get 2.76 , 2.90, 3.23 etc

I have a tremec tko 600.  How much is the 5 sp passon.  You will never regret the money you loose on selling the trans you have and getting a passon.  Take it from me.  It has been several years of tracking down vibration.  From talking with a multiude of proffesionals a tremec is going to be problematic if everything is not just right.  The shifter for a ebody forces the trans yoke to hang out futher than it should causing more driveline vibration.  The tremec with everything right will be rattling the shifter at 80 so if you can put up with the noise I guess it would be worth it to you.  But I have spent a small fortune on this car and after all I have done I expected more out of it in regards to driveability.  I most likely within the next year swap to a passon.

I'd live with what you have for another season and see what Passon comes up with in reguards to his new od 5 speed?  :2cents:
