Caliper location '74 E-body
«

I am rebulding front end and can't remember if there is a right or left spindle and as a result would dictate if the calipers would be positioned toward the front of car or rear of car on spindle. Been too long since I tore all that apart...guess I shoulda shot some pics. If I check for a PN on the spindles would a PN ending with an odd number mean the spindle goes on left side and even on right?
Thanks,
Dan

The Calipers are positioned towards the rear of the rotors. I believe the inner brake pad will be slightly larger than the outer too.

Thanks,
Seems I am getting conflicting opinions on this from different sources. I guess when I get home I will try the PN thing to determine which spindle goes on left or right.

Dan,
After kicking this around in my brain now, I'm not sure about that brake pad statement I made.

depends which system you have , the 70 had the lines going straight into the caliper & the caliper has to be forward on the spindle for the brake hose to fit or you will need custom longer brake hoses

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I will try mounting on front...talked to a buddy of mine with a '74 Challenger yesterday and his are on the front. I am using pin type calipers BTW.
