Gen 3 hemi Aluminum Valve cover options
« on: January 12, 2013 - 07:24:31 AM »
Just looking to see what options are out there to replace factory composite valve covers. I gave some thought on making my own,But time has been in short demand lately .Some of them are pricey. These are a great option, I like they hide the coil packs from the valve covers and have a fabricated look. http://indyheads.com/images/news7.pdf   Any thoughts?

Sounds interesting Dave, Are your valve covers  going be the type to hide the coils from the top of the valve covers (to give it a old hemi nostalgic look) or like the Moroso covers that put the coils in the stock location.? These factory plastic valve covers dont look good at all on a all aluminum engine.

Actually coils will still be mounted on top. May look into some coil covers. I am not big on relocating them from a performance concern.

The fake plug wires are actually the fuel injector wires/connectors. Under the faux valve cover, the plug into the stock harness.

Some nice lookif stuff guys. The only comb I do not prefer is the relocating of coils under a 6.1 intake. I think it takes replacing the dished plenum plate and replaces it with a flat plate. Not say it is bad just would not want to do without some engine testing. They do look sweet though. Most likely whatever we do will have to fit the late model cars as well.

I really do like the Bllet Tech covers with coil covers. If you did that in a  wrinkle finish may prove interesting. Actually with the coil covers it really resembles the old Chrysler fire power.

Hi Dave ,I would be interested if there is a difference. The reason being a lot of us like the old school late 60s eary 70s hemi valvecover look. The Fuax hemi valve cover design looks interesting, I am leaning toward the Indy design now. Not wanting to take from the performance much, let us know what you find out.

Don't know when I would get to test. Dyno is at a remote location in a friends shop in Florida right now. May have then run test for me. I would think if a flat plate was the thing to use Chrysler would of done it to save cost. Also I have seen some people increase the volume by spacing the standard plenum on high HP builds.
