Missing Harness parts
« on: January 14, 2013 - 02:25:27 AM »
Hey fellas,

I basically want everything electrical inside the car to work like stock, so I've been going through everything and testing it...thanks for the help on the dash lights in my previous thread.

At this point, I'm looking for someone who's willing to sell me some piece parts off interior wiring harnesses...here's what I'm looking for:

1. The pig tail that runs from the main instrument harness to the "fasten seat belt" light on the side of instrument panel bezel...#1 in the diagram
2. harnesses that run to the drivers/passenger seats to connect to the seat belt buzzer...the pigtails are just hanging from seat belt housings.  #2 in the diagram
3. Related to #2:  there is a pigtail hanging from the passenger seat (only) that from the wiring diagrams appears to tie into the seat belt buzzer system...but it's a different connector  #3 in the diagram
4. The seat belt relay...where is this supposed to be located and is it different than the key-in-buzzer/horn relay?  (I assume yes)  #4 in the diagram

The question becomes...are all models equipped with the seat belt buzzer system?

Evans Wiring is probably a good place to source a lot of misc electrical pieces parts.

I've only worked with the 1974 and the seat belt system may be different as 1974 included a seat belt interlock (one year only).  But to answer some your questions:

The wiring for the seats runs under the carpet, if the carpet is still in the car, a previous owner who didn't like the seat belt system may just have stuffed it under there and left it (that's how mine was). It runs from the driver's side over the hump to the passenger side.  Under each seat is a circular hole in the carpet that the wiring is supposed to feed out of.

There are 4 connections:  1 goes to the bottom of each seat (weight sensor), the other goes to the bottom of each buckle where it mounts to the trans tunnel.  The weight connector is one style, and the seat belt connector is another.

The seat belt buzzer and horn relay are the same (again at least in 1974).  It plugs into the top of the interior fuse block.  Here is what mine looks like:

Okay, thanks!  I've already got a new relay on its way--key in ignition nor horns were working prior, so it's good to know that it might fix my seat belt buzzer system too.

I'll check with Evans Wiring.
