Gas gauge troub;e

So this may seem like a general circuit question but the gas gauge in my 70 Challenger isn't working.  The ground to the tank is good and so is the wire to the unit so I'm thinking it could be the power or ground  to the gauge? Just looking for a second opinion before I start ripping my dash apart.

If all your other gauges work. then I would suspect a bad sending unit first. If you have access to an Ohm meter, check the resistance between ground and the screw-like peg. It should be between 10 and 70 Ohms.

Check the ground strap from the sending unit hose to the stock steel hose on the body. If it's corroded or missing the gauge won't work.  Looks like this.

Also check for voltage at the sender connection.

When you say "isn't working" do you mean completely dead/no movement at all? or reading incorrectly? (reads half full when full etc)

If it is dead I would start at the sender & see if you are getting a pulsing voltage there if not trace towards the front / connecters , gas guage connection & if the other gauges are working the voltage reg must be ok
