Sweet!!

What is that for a coolant recovery bottle?  I'm looking for ideas for the '72 as it came without one but the NHRA requires one.
If we use the Edelbrock's we have, we will probably paint ours too.  How did you prep them for paint?

Were there any "issues" with the heads themselves, or were they useable bolt-ons right out tof the box?

Well the coolant recovery bottle is just a simple clear coffee can (plastic), painted purple lid and hose. It works great and I didn't have to modify or move anything in the engine compt. It fits nicely between the radiator support and the battery. Very secure. I had one of those cool aluminum recovery bottles but just didn't like it much. Personal preference I guess.
The Heads were new when I prepped them and painted. All I used was basic cleaner (simple Green) then cleaned that with alcohol or acetone and then primed with self etching primer and them painted with a basic Eastwood Mopar orange. I painted them two years ago and they still look great and so far no paint chipping or discoloration.
The heads were direct bolt-on. Make sure you use good head bolts /w washers. The only issues I have heard of are the spark plug loactions. They have angled plugs 1 & 3, 5 & 7, 2 & 4, 6 & 8 are angled towards each other. That can cause issues with header clearance. My TTI's fit these heads perfectly. No issues with spark plug clearance. Also the exhaust bolt holes are blind so that issue with coolant leaking out of them is gone forever. Hope this info helps some!!!

Chris

I once owned a '69, was bronze fire with a black vinyl top, black bench seat interior, and a 383 4 speed....Loved that car, and kick myself in the butt for selling it.

Here are some more pics of the Green Machine.  BTW thanks for your compliments and interest.
P.S.  I am thinking of a catchy little state plate on the rear.  I was thinking "Geezer" or "Olskool" or "BadMoFo".  I doubt that the Georgia state folks will let the last one fly----LOL

Special things we did (that took us a long time!) :  our own custom A/C setup, custom stainless steel brackets, stainless steel water lines and fittings, aluminum hose locks, custom AFCO 4-core radiator, and an electro-servo heater valve,  you'll see Lokar linkages, Jethot coatings, and hours of sanding, polishing and painting on those aluminum parts. Hope you enjoy!
