I agree that the rear of the vettes has been horrible for decades now , the old ones look like a dump truck , just a slab back end & very tall , at least this one has some detail but is still butt ugly . Just say no to Automatics too !

So far I don't like what I see, but I will save final judgement until I see it on Saturday at the auto show. The styling looks like they took a Nissan GTR, stretched it, then slapped on a cheap knock off of a Ferrari F12 front grille, and a new Camaro rear, plus the vents in the hood and tops of the quarter panels look like after thoughts, they may look ok on a black car or some other dark color, but on any bright colored cars the vents stick out like a sore thumb.

You got me on that one!  :bricks1:  As a matter of fact, you may have just helped me to change my mind.  My Dealer Friend told me that the 7 speed has the ability to monitor the rpm's so when you accelerate out of a turn, you don't experience a power lag.  Thanks Ross!  You just talked me into it.  Manual it is!!! If you're ever in the St. Louis area give me a holler and we'll go bang some gears.  :2thumbs:

absolutely!  ill be curious about how you like the 7 speed tranny.  thats a lot of gears!  but it probably keeps the car in the sweet spot all the time.

As of owner of a '07 C6, I can say I'll never buy one.  If I wanted a Camaro rear end I would buy a Camaro, not a Corvette!  Chevy blew it with this design! :villagers:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I was looking to get a 458 Ferrari but called my Chevy Rep to order a new Vette today.   I think they look every bit exotic with similar performance specs, for a fraction of the cost.  White exterior with a red interior and an 8 speed auto trans.  Delivery time should be August/September 2013.  He said the Z06 and Convertible won't be available for approximately 18 months.  In 2005 I bought the #1, first 2006 C6 corvette available to the public.  The exterior and interior colors of this vehicle was discontinued before the new models were even available to consumers.  I think that every automobile manufacturer offers some very desirable (performance) vehicles.

So...you were in the market for a $300k car, but settled on a $60k car, that you'll probably see 3 of everyday on your way to work.

Why not split the diff and get an 2013 GTS Viper for $120k and have superior performance, looks, and cachet (b/c you'll be the only one for miles around w/one)?

Hi Ragtop!  Happy New Year!  Its not the cost that concerns me.  In 2001, I bought a new RT/10 Viper along with a new Z06 Corvette.   For me, the Vette was much more refined and comfortable to drive.  It  was also every bit the equal in performance as my Viper.  Later, I almost bought a 2005 Viper because they were suppose to be so much better than the 2001 versions.  After spending a considerable amount of time test driving one, I couldn't tell much difference.  Don't get me wrong.  I really like the Viper and its aggressive performance & styling.  Beside the Ferrari, I had also considered a Ford GT or a Saleen S7.  Those are in the same category as the Viper.  Just a bit too rough around the edges to really enjoy jumping in and driving for more than 30 minuets.

I'd agree with you there, but considering the new viper seats were designed by the same designer ferrari uses and made with the same leather that Lambo, Aston, and bentey use, dont you think its worth another look?

The Future of Technology.
If u read the full article. This is a Stingray.
I just wouldn't want the electrical system fail on a busy highway.
And get run over by a freight liner.

Corvettes are nice, but again, if you can afford a $300k car, you can get something way more exotic AND comfortable.  Thinking Aston Martin DB9/DBS or the new 2013 Vanquish.

I woulda gotten a Ford GT for those less-than-30-minute drives.  :grinyes:

I'm sure the new base Stingray at $60k will perform really dang good.  In fact, it may be hard to justify the $120k ZR1 when it comes out.  Especially when it will look like a $60k vette to 99% of the population.

This MAY be the first vette EVER where the hardtop may look better than the convertible???

I'll take one...in black...if say I found a bag of money dropped from a truck.
