I use K&N. That 1" nut on the end makes taking it off a breeze.

The best filters you can run are OEM, Mobil 1, and K&N. If you judge by filter size, materials, and engineering.

Motorcraft   FL-1  long   or FL-300 short

:iagree:  on my 340 engine I am currently using a FL-300 short because of header clearance.  Shorties only.

 I have also used:
Bosch 3402
Wix 51068 and 51085
AC  PF-13
