I have been shopping for another used diesel truck,drove several dodges and ferds.I have a 90 cummins turbo diesel regular cab,5 speed 2wd(now for sale) and need a 4 wheel drive extra cab atleast.I am tired of not having any room and getting stuck with a hay or horse trailure.I wasnt impressed with the new cummins versus powerstroke even on 2002 models.The powerstroke would leeave the cummins standing still,I am sorry to say(And if anyone didnt know Ferd Owns cummins,literally)So after shopping day and night,deciding if i wanted to pay cash or finance i opted for a used 95 f250 supercab long bed 4x4 powerstroke xlt completely loaded with campershell from a private owner that took great care of the truck.It has 139k miles on it,nothing for a diesel and it hauls arse.Just ordered the evolution programmer to boost HP's even more.I paid cash 10,400 for the truck which in the condition its in i think i got a good deal.No i am not being a trader,i have always like dodge the best and have had many dodge trucks and Ferd trucks for that matter,i just get what i think is best for my needs.

Cummins is not owned by Ford. Check your sources

The new Ford 6.0L while more powerful, sucks fuel and comes apart very easy and very frequently.

I am sure some of the diesel boys around here could educate you on how much better the Cummins is over the PowerJoke.

No i was hoping to get flamed,feeling like a Chit disturber today :patriot:.You are right the 6.0 sucks but as stated by countless people,there is no replacement for displacement!!!,even with diesels,besides its a 444 cubic inch,i like the number,kind of like a 440.And in case i havent stated it or you dont know,it aint a Ferd motor anyways,its an International,just like the cummins aint dodge.NO ONE MAKES ANYTHING,they are all just assemblers,the blocks no matter who makes them come from a couple of factoriers,even gas engines.The sheet metal doesnt come from dodge or ford or cheby,but from a steel stamping factory.The only difference is engineering,so Bring It!lol

First off, 6.0 liters does not = 444 inches......a liter contains 61 CI, so that makes it 366 CI......the 5.9 cummins is 1/10 of a liter smaller, you have a whole 6.1 CI more....thats amazing :o :o Next, your comparing different years!???....thats hardly fair. Take the new 2004.5+ Cummins and put it against the ANY stock powerstroke and then compare them. Also, have you looked at the rods on your powerstroke???.......Stock LY rods are beefier :laughing: :laughing: I'm not saying your truck is a POS, just saying that the cummins has been proven to be a better overall engine. Ford makes a good, strong truck, no doubt about it....but overall cummins makes a better one.....Ohh and by the way.....your thread should say "Cummins couldnt cut it"

Well in defense of Moparnut, he's just excited to get his new truck, we're not talking Cuda verses Mustclang here. I drive a 2002 Ford F350 service truck weighing in at about 10,000 lbs and it does the job. I love the Dodge trucks but haven't had the opportunity to own one yet. My son and son-in-law both have 2004 Dodge Diesels and they love em. My Ford service truck gets severe work out every day I get in it, if it has little rods, they hold up like big ones!! Anyway, congrats Moparnut, hope you enjoy your new purchase!! You can call the thread what you want, Dodge aint cuttin it or Fard rules, doesn't get my panties in a wad one iota! We all know who builds the best classic muscle cars don't we?  :grinyes:

The cummins makes better low end torque.( As far as the earlier years are concerned) ie: 97-2002.The cummins has fewer moving parts. As we all know a straight six will always have more grunt on a dead pull than any v-8 design out there. Furthermore, being involved in off shore fishing boats to quite an extent, I have yet to see a International engine in a big offshore boat. But yet I find Caterpillars, and cummins in them.
  The point made is that if you took a boat offshore 40 miles out reliability is a HUGE factor. Your life is at stake.  So the commercial fisherman shop wisely and cummins is a clear choice.

I was just trying to have some fun with you guys,lol.I know ford doesnt own cummins,they did own 10% stock and then sold it in 1994.I do love my truck,even though it a ford,but i have always like ford and dodge trucks.I would be curious to see if the neigh sayers own any other make of vehicle?Wives probably drive a honda,My finacee drives a Lexus(Licksass for short,lol)

Why isnt comparing a 2002 cummins to a 2002 powerstroke not comparing apples to apples?I drove both and put my foot into the cummins and it didnt impress me like to ford did,even my 95 would eat up the '02.And besides the 7.3 litre diesel is 444 cubic inches

We drive a Chevy Tahoe for our family car, if Durango didn't screw up the looks of the original, that's what we'd be driving today. Not DC bashing here, just that DC has their head up their you know where in a lot of areas. They might as well just call it the DurVanGo! With a hemi in em they really do go! There are people out there saying look at that Vango!  okay,  :ack:

good luck with engine life , economy , cold starting & glow plugs , thanks but I will stick with Cummins no matter what body they put it in !!
 you can crank the Cummins up too , I have seen them make 1400 ft lbs of torque on a Mustang dyno & run for 800,000 km

Cummins all the way over the powerdork. Much more relaibility, and they are easily bombed to much higher HP/torque levels. I can easily pull my loaded enclosed car trailer to 80mph and hills are no sweat, and my truck has only minor mods.

I own a 2000 CTD. Best truck I ever owned, would not ever go back to a gas engine. And while i've owned Fords before (Cobras and some GT's) and driven Ford pickups at work, I'll stay with the Dodge. I've seen Ford's engineering at work, NO thank you!

Hey Chyco,what do you mean engine life?Just curious since in the horse community i am in most powerstrokes and cummins have 3-6 hundred thousand miles on their trucks with no problems.I dont really care much about economy since it will be driven once month to go get hay with a trailure.Do you have any evidence or is it just prejudism if it aint dodge?
