Non-rallye tach
« on: January 27, 2013 - 07:28:31 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has seen a non-rallye instrument cluster with a tach.  I ran my fender tag for my 1971 340 r/t challenger and it has no A62 on the fender tag but it has an N85 option.  Anyone ever seen this before?

Would it be possible to have a rallye dash without the a62 option code because I have checked the fender tag at least 6 times and verified all the numbers.  Any ideas?

A) It is really N95 for California emissions
B) It is a mistake on the fender tag

Didn't all Challenger R/Ts come with rallye gauges, which would include a tach?  :clueless:

Were there non-Rallye gauge Challenger R/Ts?  :clueless:

Were there non-rallye gauge Cudas? Sorry, more familiar with Challengers... :misbehaving:

Mine is a true BS23 'Cuda and came with a non-rallye dash.  Mine came with the far right gauge position with the blank.  I installed the the aftermarket tach in that spot.

Ooops, I had to change me previous post as I thought noelly2305 had a Cuda.  :banghead:

But interesting that Cudas came with non-rallye gauges.

What about Challengers?  I thought all R/T and Rallye cars came with the rallye gauge package?  :clueless:

I figured it would be a rallye but I didn't see the option code.  When I got the car there was a rallye setup in the trunk.

Is it possable that they dropped the A62 if it had the A85 to save on redundancy?

SWEET! Where did you find that tach? It blends in perfectly with the factory gauges!  :2thumbs:

I think for a '71 R/T it's supposed to have the rallye gauge package with the regular old tach that is typical for the rallye gauge package, same size as the speedo.

Not sure if it's typical to be coded separately....  :dunno:

See this link for a '71 Challenger brochure:
