Hello, after firing up my 440 last weekend, I noticed that I have a hair line crack in my one of my 906 heads. It's a horizontal hair line crack (about .375 in length) that leaks coolant, located just below the exhaust ports (where the machined flat exhaust port surface meets the casting surface of the head). The 440 is basically stock with a mild hydraulic cam. Instead of replacing the cracked 906 head, I am thinking about purchasing a new set of Edelbrock 60929 Performer RPM Heads. These heads include the valve train except the rocker arms. Here is my question:
Right now, my current heads have non adjustable rocker arms. If I were to purchase the 60929 Edelbrock Heads, would I need to switch to adjustable rocker arms?
The 440 was built several years ago and I have no idea what the cam specs are. If I have to go to adjustable rocker arms then I have to figure out the cam configuration to properly adjust the rocker arms. I have never had adjustable rocker arms before and I just think they would always be a pain to adjust. Maybe I am wrong. I guess if I have to switch to adjustable rocker arms than any suggestions for what rocker arms to purchase would also be much appreciated.
Thank you!
