    New here from SE Michigan(not really Detroit but close).  I picked up a 70 Challenger Base 318 auto A/C car this spring and will be slowly getting back in shape.  Final plans are still pretty up in the air at this point but it will be a fuel injected small block car with a very cruiseable feel.  I am also a High School Auto teacher and students will probably do about 95% of the mechanical work.  They are currently replacing all the front end bushings and T-bars and converting to disc front brakes.  Students will also be building the engine, trans, and rear axle.  I'm shooting for a major road trip in it this summer so I will likely end up doing the EFI harness myself just because of time.  The car is pretty solid and was last titled in SC and must have spent most of it's life in the south.

    Challenger looks to be in pretty good shape. Not much rust.

    Thanks it was originally Go-Mango and will probably go back to that color some day.  The only major rust issues are behind the rear wheels both sides have been "repaired" at some point but I haven't found any other serious problems yet.

    Hello and welcome to the site.  Good to see another local member join.  Have your students watched vanishing point yet?  You might have your challenger done in time for the Woodward cruise.

    I loved autoshop in highschool, I see my autoshop teacher once in a blue moon around town.  In fact I had 2 periods of autoshop in high school.

    Don't know if you've been asked this already but any temptation to make a Vanishing Point car?  If that were my car I would get it to be running mecanically fiine, dress it up with rallye rims and cruise with it in the condition it's in.

    Would be cool to play Vanishing Point for the kids in the shop to get them aquainted with some old school movie automobilia.  :2cents:

    That's more or less the plan for now.  The roof needs attention now or it will turn into a problem so that will probably get blasted and painted which may snowball into a repaint the entire car thing.  There isn't a good shot of them but it has the 14" rallye wheels on it now (trim rings/center caps in the trunk).

    A previous owner already did the vanishing point make over.  While it is a good movie it isn't one I can show in class without getting in trouble.
