Glove box latch
« on: February 05, 2013 - 11:47:48 AM »
Does anyone know how to remove the glove box latch on a 71 Cuda. Im trying to take the chrome knob off and I'm not sure if it is just pressed on or what holds it on. Before I mangle the heck out of it I thought I'd ask you guys. I see there is a tiny hole in the front and I assume that's for something but no clue what for. Thanks

If you have a small flathead screwdriver that hole will allow you to put it in there and turn it and pop it off.

That's how I did it.

Is it a locking latch?  If so, you need to lock the latch, remove the key, and from the backside push on the lock wafer and pull the knob off.
I think there is a thread on here somewhere.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Thanks for the quick advice. Mine did not have a lock but I did get it off using the same way you said to. It seems when you put the knob back in if you push the locking tab down and push a paper clip in the little hole in the chrome knob, that will hold the tab down so you can put it back in. Probably would have broke it without your help! Thanks again.
