The best head gasket is the right one for your performance expectations. While some factory engines make use of MLS there is little need for them on the older engines unless you need a certain thickness, and you have it machined for them. They require a smoother finish than any fiber/combination gasket. If you are not having the engine amchined, or your shop does nmot have a profilometer to test the Ra value than I'd just run a composite gasket. If the engine has MLS gaskets now then you might try running it and see if the leak seals itself.
