Trunk torsion bar
« on: February 09, 2013 - 10:35:41 AM »
Any trick to taking the tension off of the torsion bar for the trunk lid?  I see it hooks on the driver's side support.  Can I just grab it with some pliers and pull it out?

CAUTION.  VERY HIGH TENSION. Use a strap to carefully pull the rod out of the adjusting brace. It will probably want to
snap quite quickly. Are you afraid of damaging the paint? If so, think this process thru carefully.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

A 12" chunk of the heavy wall 1/2" copper pipe makes a decent lever to crank those nasty SOB's out of their seats. As mentioned, be careful and have some respect for their strength. Good luck
