Dodge City Restaurant
« on: February 10, 2013 - 07:07:41 PM »
I am so excited for Carlisle and I hope you are too!  Jeff and I had an opportunity to check out Dodge City Restaurant and think it will be a great place to go for dinner Saturday night!  The food was fantastic and it's a great atmosphere!  I already have their private room reserved and they have assured me that they can handle our large group.  The private room is in the back of the restaurant next to the bar so I have no concerns about noise levels from the restaurant.  There is a decent parking lot and the owner "Sheriff Doug" has a classic car of his own (I don't remember what it is) but he understands how precious our cars are to us. We will need a head count a week before the show so don't forget to reply to Jeff's survey!  Below are some pictures and the link to their website.

Looks like a good place to eat!  What time did you set the reservation for?

Doug said that by that time of night they're usually not as busy - there will probably be ample parking, especially for those showing up around 8'ish.

This place is a bit further away from the West Shore area that we normally hang out in - it's actually in the city of Harrisburg.  But the food was quite simply incredible, prices are very reasonable, and come on - it's DODGE CITY!!!  :)

We'll probably try to arrange a caravan from the hotel, but the place is easy to get to - heck we managed with a screaming baby in the backseat...    :crying:

OK what time does the bikini contest start?  Most members typically wait until after that is over (go figure) and then pack up and head out to dinner.  I'm thinking that 7'ish is too early and 8'ish would be a better choice?  Unless I'm wrong and the bikini contest is earlier than 7?

I'm not sure what time the bikini contest is but the 7:00 time is tentative.  I figure people can start showing up around then and have drinks and appetizers.  Once everyone is there (probably around 8:00) then we will order our meals.

Heck, if it's in Harrisburg I'll be there.  May be the wife and I.

Back in the late '70s/early '80 on Friday and Saturday nights, we used to "cruise the circuit" in Harrisburg, which was down Front St. by the river, and back up 2nd St, not too far from this place.  And when you had something to prove, you'd take it to the Harvey Taylor bridge and race across the river.

Probably a bunch of tuner guys hanging out now.

Ah, the good old days.

What - you think I've never done this before?  :)  Silly old man...

Last year we stayed for the bikini contest (which was the Daisy Duke look-alike that time, if I recall) and then went to the hotel to shower up, got to the restaurant, and there was a good handful of people there already.  Some folks don't really care for the bikinis or burnouts (or their wives won't let them!   :roflsmiley:) so they head out early.

Luckily our "room" is right next to the bar, so folks arriving early can get settled, have a drink or two, even order appetizers if they'd like, and the rest of us will surely stagger in eventually!  I remember a past year where folks were still arriving at the "Your Place" restaurant as late as 9pm!

Just spoke to Doug at Dodge City and he is super excited to see us tonight!  He mentioned that next to the restaurant is a business called Pensky Supply and we are welcome to park our cars there and have our own mini car show! Only his employees park there on Saturday so our cars will be safe! See you there! If you need to reach me, feel free to call or text 717-592-8381. -Ash

I liked the place. It was a bit adventurous getting there for us folks following Viperman.   :poopoke:

It was a much quieter atmosphere than last year, and I think having us in a private room away from the civilized people worked.
