    Clear tape to protect paint

    Has anyone used a clear adhesive tape to protect their paint from stone chips. We use a corse grade of stone chip on our roads in NZ and I want to protect the paint on the rocker panel and the bottom of the front and rear quarter guards.
     Any info on brands, width of tape used , etc would be much appreciated.

    Tony, 3M makes the product you're looking for and I see it used a lot for the very purposes you mention. It isn't cheap and I routinely see prices of $5-700 to do the frt bmpr/hood and fndr frt edges. That includes the 2-3 hrs it takes the guy to install it. Sorry I don't know the product name/number, but Google should come up with something. Hope that helps.  :thumbsup:
    PS- one of the members on here makes stripe kits and I bet he could hook you up

    Helicopter tape from Summit. One of my customers covered the whole rocker area on his 69 1/2 Super Bee b4 he drove it home from my shop. couldn't tell it was there from 5' away.

    My Corvette buddy swears by the 3M clear bra.  He has the whole front of the car and behind each wheel covered.
