Cuda owner from Australia
« on: February 16, 2013 - 09:31:39 AM »
Gday everyone.
Ive just purchased a cuda its currently being shipped interstate.
ive done a little research and from what i can work out its an aar. vin reads BS23JOB, from what i can work out the J means its a 340-6 which i believe was only available as an aar. car appears to have originally been orange.
Is this car particularly rare or desireable. it no longer has its original engine/box or any of its original aar parts. plans include some body mods and an efi440. but should i be looking at bringing this car back to original?
thanks in advance, look forward to learning from you all
cheers, Mat

I would have to say yes, bring it back to original.

AAR's are fairly rare and are sought after.

I was wondering if you were going to purchase this.
The guy who owned it was supposed to give a call back if you did not purchase the car.
Queensland right.

So, can you list the fender tag options.  That will tell what color and what options were on the car when it left the factory.

Can we get some pics!!!  :useless:

Hi Mat
Welcome to CC.com!! Sounds like a great car. An AAR is an awesome and rare car. If you bring it back to original, I wouldn't put a 440 in it, but go back with the 340 6-pack. Fair dinkum!!

Hello! Glad to see you registered here.

You got a real good deal! I would restore the car back to stock. Many members here can help you with that  :2thumbs:

Welcome from another Aussie.
You bought the one from Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast?
Fair bit of info in this thread from a Aussie forum.
I suggest you and others advising you read it before going or not going down the AAR path.

re body,i checked the number on the innerguard myself , d20 option on the tag , the issue with the vin doesnt match the body style , a/c, small brakes, column auto etc . no radiator support number , dodgy inner guard number with matches the dash vin and tag , no door vin, no radiator vin (cut out) chassie vin is ummm yep , import papers , dash vin , fender tag match (missing t/a one), genuine e55 d21 a53 bs23 job on plate. I lost my deposit as i pulled out of the deal, id rather spend 50k on a semi restored AAR than restoring this .

Do I have to be a member of the bulletin to view threads?

I'd love to see some more info on that car.

car wasnt sold to me as an aar so not realy concerned if its a rebody as long as it passes rego no worries. i already have a 440 to go in it so regardles it will be getting that. was more concerned about whether i should be doing mini tubs/subframe connectors/6spd if it was a genuine aar.
rough car but the longer i save up to buy a better one the pricier they get. i can buy this now and sit it in the shed until i can afford to do it.
and ken its mat (valsofttop) from the aussie forums

Very cool that you got an AAR!  Like the others have said, I would bring it back stock.

Would love to see pics !!!!!

I believe you cannot.    4 speeds were only on the floor.

Hey,hows it doing?
So I guess you've seen the H6P thread?
You've found the best forum for E-bodies here IMO.
Be interesting to see what you find out abt the new car.
IMO if there's a cloud over it's authenticity then do what you want with it.
If it turns out to be a real AAR,then original is where the big $$$ are.

I guess you'd have to look at it the same way you or me would look at an E38 or E49.
