Hi from Arkansas
« on: February 16, 2013 - 11:27:38 AM »
I am new to the boards and am trying to scratch an itch. Years ago my dad sold my 1971 challenger and i am now trying to replace it. I am looking at a challenger that is a heater delete car and am wanting heat and air in it. does anybody make the factory replacement parts to make it look factory and is it feasable to do it this way. I would appreciate any insight into this matter, thanks

Welcome to the site. I've never seen a heater delete car, but if the hole for the blower motor is in the firewall, it'd just be a matter of drilling the heater hose tube holes. Otherwise, I'd just buy a regular dash with all the heater gear in it and stick it in. You'll need the proper heater controls and there's wiser heads on here who may be able to comment on the wiring it may or may not require. Good luck!

Welcome. Is There any chance of you chasing down that same car? That would be really cool. You might be able to trace it's ownership through the Dept of Motor Vehicles (or whatever they are called in your state) if you could come up with the right VIN number.
In search of the eternal buzz!

Believe it or not I have been able to locate my original Challenger and am making plans to go see if I can persuade the current owner to part with my car. Hopefully in a few months I will have some good news to share with all ya'll

It looks like they just used a block off plate on the firewall so the factory heater parts should bolt right in. A/C would be more work as the firewall is different but there are aftermarket units that would work.
