Thought's on this car: 2009 RT
« on: February 16, 2013 - 01:02:23 PM »

Just took a look at a 2009 locally.

It's got ~77K miles on it.  It looks pretty clean.  Has a few surface blemishes on it like a 5 year old car would have.

I'm giving it some serious consideration.  The price seems fair, but I just have a concern about reliability after 60 or 70K.

Anyone have any experience with mileage like that?

The car is black with black interior, so it might be a killer in the summer.

Would not even question reliability as long as it shows pride in ownership and you can see some oil change maintenance records.

It's based on a LX car.  Super reliable.

Wife's '06 300c SRT8 has >106k on it and only issue was a leaking front cv joint boot (fixed under warranty) and navigation radio took a crap (danm Alpine!).  No big, replaced it w/a MyGig conversion.

Take it for a test drive and do a carfax/autocheck on it.

Thanks guys.  All good input.

I asked about maintenance records and the salesman said there weren't any.  Salesman said he didn't keep his.  That bothered me.  I have all my maintenance records on all my cars.

I'll get them to print me the car fax.

Only odd thing is that it doesn't have an inspection sticker.  Salesman said they'll have it inspected by next week.

They took in in trade.  I asked what the previous owner bought instead, and was told the guy picked up a cummins diesel.  He got rid of it because he moved to NH from down south and didn't want to drive it in the winter.  Inspection sticker may have run out just after the previous owner traded it in.  Sounds plausible.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

And if he had them he'd tell you how crucial it is to have them.

Yea, on Kelly Bluebook, they suggested 21500 or so.

I'm on the fence.  I'd spend $19K but maybe I should wait a year and buy a brand new model.

Course, I should really wait until after March 4 to see if I still have a job, what with sequestration, and working in the defense industry and all.....   :22yikes:

Ya, probably not a good time to spend any money right now.  :banghead:

Great way to get the economy going.  :villagers:
