All car guys are Mopar guys, Right?
« on: February 20, 2013 - 11:44:50 AM »
There is a guy at work that will not stop talking about his mustang.  I don't mind so much because I am a car guy.  A good car is a good car.  It does not matter to me if it is not a Mopar.  I prefer Mopars and E-bodies the most.  Now, this guy claims to be a Ford man and that he can't stand Mopars.  That makes me think.  I believe that he suffers from Mopar envy.  I honestly think that every car guy, whether they admit it or not, would love to have a Mopar.  I also think that the more a guy fights that idea, the more he is lying to himself.  I have another friend who is the closest thing to a true car guy that I have ever met.  He has around 14 cars.  Every thing from a VW bug to a 1949 Cadillac to a Ford Falcon.  He used to have an AMC AMX.  All very cool cars.  He likes to play around with a few cars in the under $10K area.  If you asked him if he would like to have a Hemi 'Cuda?  He would say Hell Yeah!

Am I crazy?

I believe it's called stereotyping. Your ford friend is afraid that his buddies might find out that he
actually enjoys Mopars. And with the stereotype "Joe Dirt" flying around he can't have that. Too many
people are way too shallow to come to terms with the fact that any nice old car is actually that, a nice older car.
I agree with Mopars being the best  :clapping:  but I enjoy looking at the others.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I like all muscle cars and sports cars. Brand doesn't matter or what country it came from. The flavour of the day can change!

Tin Cuda---
You are NOT crazy :bananasmi

I have friends that are into Chevy, Ford, and TR-6 (Britt)
You know what? Theyre all annoying when when comes to talking about cars.
They all know that my Cuda (ant Mopar) is better.
I let them ramble on about their cars. sit quietly and patiently, and at the end, I say: I have a Cuda
- They become quiet and change the subject.
Such is life

LOL, that is so true.  I have had that conversation.

It is kind of like, you never ask a person if they are a pilot.  If they are not, you wouldn't want them to feel bad.  If they are a pilot, they would have already told you.

I like all brands too, but I must admit I'm becoming more of a Mopar "snob"
I'm sooooo sick of Camaro's and Mustangs! :pullinghair:
I like looking in the pro touring sites but 99% of them are belly button camaro's and mustangs! Yawn.....

Yeah, I have no love for mustangs and camaros.  I like them, but there is no love there like I have for Mopars.

I will never forget what the Ford guy in my first post said to me when we met.  "So, how many mustangs have you lost to?"  Very High School.

I never understood brand loyalty. I like Mopars best for vintage American muscle cars, but I like my Mustangs and Camaros, too. A Honda and Acura are my daily drivers now.

I actually want a vintage Japanese car next.  :poopoke:

I have noticed things over the years of going to car cruise-ins. Most of these are very informal and usually consist of a group of car enthusiasts that gather in a shopping complex parking lot on say a Friday or Saturday night. I love going to look at the cars, tell tall tales, joke and just chew the fat with folks I share a common interest with. Here's one of the things I have noticed with some folks. Some of the die hard (Ford, Chevy, ricer, british or any other specific car group) guys will cruise in, get out of their car and walk by every make of car without even looking at it, except ones that are the same make as what they are driving and often only talk to people that own the same make of car as they do. Me, I like all of them, some more than others (such as Mopars), but I will stop and look at every car just because I like classic/antique cars...all of them. And I will talk to all of the folks. I just don't understand some people like the Ford guy Tincuda was talking about!  :screwy: :screwy:

Actually, Henry Ford couldn't pay the Dodge boys for the cars they built for him and they were in the position of either forcing Ford into bankruptcy OR taking the value of what was owed them in Ford motor company stock. It took some lads with a real pair, to take stock in a company that couldn't pay it's bills, but that's what they did! Due to the Dodge boys having saved FoMoCo from a premature death, it went on to be a success and Horace and John sold their FoMoCo shares for enough money to start the Dodge Bros car company. So you can look those Ford lads right in the eye and tell 'em that if it weren't for a Dodge, they all be driving Chevys. Here endeth the sermon.

I am a car guy,I just enjoy my Mopars
And as far as I can figure it,without the competition of all the large US carmakers we wouldn't have had the cars that we love and enjoy without them all.

Car guys are difficult to judge and most are definitely oriented to one make or another but in general my observations are:
*Mopar guys like all cars, prefer Mopar but wll look at all the others.
*GM guys will, after looking at all the GM's and maybe a few Fords will take a look at Mopars on the way out
*Ford guys will, after looking at all the Fords for the humpteenth time will drive out looking the other way as they go past the Mopars.
