Dream Cars at Disney
« on: February 21, 2013 - 05:31:49 AM »
As some of you know, I was trying to arrange a car show at the Walt Disney World resort. I was finally able to talk to someone in Disney, and as it turns out there's someone planning something similar for this year. In some ways the show they have going on will be better than what I was planning, especially in that they're planning a show for the Labor Day weekend, which makes it a lot easier for those who have kids. The event organizer, Tara Bush, told me that she'd specifically like to get some Mopar representation there. The show is organized around another show that's Ford-centric, and since GM is a major Disney sponsor there's a lot of GM support as well.

I have volunteered to help them, which is mostly going to entail getting the word out. If you have questions, feel free to ask me, althoough I may not know the answer. I can try to get an answer, or you can use the organizer's contact info at the bottom of this post.

Here's the show info:

Dream Cars Weekend, a car enthusiast's dream vacation, will be held at Walt Disney World's® Coronado Springs Resort during Labor Day weekend, Aug 30-Sept 2, 2013.  This is the largest car event ever held on Disney property.
We are offering a special event rate of $99 per night plus 2 free after-4 theme park tickets at the Coronado, which is a 2000 room campus style resort with 280,000 square feet of meeting/exhibition space and 5 pools.
The Mustang Club of America Grand National show will be held at Disney’s Richard Petty Speedway and will be sharing the resort with Dream Cars Weekend.  They expect over 800 Fords and have already booked 1/3 of the rooms.  The resort will be sold out so please book early.

We have designed an exclusive package deal for car clubs only.  If your club registers 25 cars and each of the 25 car owners stay at the Coronado Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, your club will receive the following:
•   Reserved parking together as close as possible to the club’s room block along with special reserved club signage.
•   Reserved table seating at any or all of the parties that the club participates in.
•   25 free Monday morning Rise & Shine Breakfast tickets ($625 value).
•   Club recognition on the Dream Cars Weekend website and in the event program guide.
•   Access to a catered banquet hall for club functions or use as a club hospitality suite (charges would apply)

Event highlights
•   Open to all makes & models
•   Pre-Registration $75 (before 7/31/13) - includes 1 event shirt, 1 event canvas bag, 1 ticket for the Disney Cruise Line® giveaway & 1 Moonlight Beach party ticket (additional tickets sold separately)
•   Dreambuilders Marketplace & custom cars inside the exhibit hall
•   Friday night Green Light Kick Off Party - 1920's Speakeasy theme & all-you-can-eat buffet
•   Saturday night Moonlight Beach Party - Tropical luau theme & all-you-can-eat buffet
•   Sunday night Night of Dreams Street Party - free outdoor concert
•   Monday morning Rise & Shine Breakfast - 1950's diner theme & all-you-can-eat buffet
•   More event activities are being planned

I have attached a registration form for your convenience.  Please contact me with a list of participating club members and any questions that you may have.

I'm in the same boat as Hood. Also it's pretty hot that time of year in Florida no? :dunno:
I just mentioned it to the wife as she said "In the Challenger?  :screwy:  ... in that heat"

Yeah, I couldn't agree more about the heat. I was there once in September, and I was constantly soaked with sweat. Of course, September is better than July  :roflsmiley:

My original idea, which I'll talk with them about once this one is done, was to go for November. being linked withh the Ford show, though, it's locked into Labor Day, at least for 2013.

Thanks to ChallengerHK for posting this.  I understand the concern over the heat, I know I live here.  The Ford Grand National show is always on Labor Day but changes cities each year and they are the ones that called me in to develop a second show with Disney.  Disney also doesn't want it during their busy season.  For now I'm stuck with Labor Day Weekend.  The resort has 5 pools and lots of trees, if that helps.  Dream Cars and Mustangs at the Mickyard have reserved the entire 2000 room luxury Disney Coronado resort, it is already half booked.

I own 2 Mopars, 2010 Challenger RT and 1970 Cuda AAR, so I have a personal interest in having a strong showing of Mopars.  I am creating this as a fun and social vacation designed around people with the same love of cars as I do, no matter what it is.  This is not your standard car show in a parking lot.  Visit the website www.DreamCarsWeekend.com and Facebook for the latest news.  Questions anyone?

I think that it's great that you are aiming at having a strong MOPAR presence at the event.  Can we see more pictures of your AAR?

This would be worth the cross country trip for TheDodgeBoys.  Plus I could use the entertainment.

Very cool endeavor, Dave!  You aren't going to be there are you? :clueless:

Was thinking of you the other day.  The kids got out the old VHS of Star Wars and when I saw Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon I thought of you.  Hope all is well!
