Question about Carlisle on Thursday?
« on: February 25, 2013 - 10:02:17 AM »
Just looking at the Carlisle web site. They mention ......

New to this event is Early-Bird Thursday. By attending on Thursday, anyone interested in looking for a deal as part of the swap meet or car corral can get a jump on those who may not arrive until Friday or later. Admission costs apply for Thursday, however; there is no charge for parking in Carlisle owned and operated lots.

Does this mean I have to pay extra on top of my car registration to get in Thursday? :sly:  I sure hope not!

:iagree:  It sounds like they're announcing that it's business as usual.

I usually get there on Thursday and find the place about half full vendor wise?  This year I'm planning on driving down on Wednesday. I'm hoping to do the vendor section during the day ( thursday) then go to the kick off party/show at the Mopar dealership in Mechanicsburg around 4pm.

I think it's more of that corporate concept of "If you make something available longer, people will buy more" which of course never turns out to be true.  :)

I think it just means that if you want to walk-in on Thursday, you'll have to pay the walk-in price.

I don't know about "walking-in" but if you have a registered car with a window sticker in place, you can drive in any day you like ...as far as I know  :dunno:

I think that's how I'm leaning towards? :dunno:
Then again with enough speed and distance you can over come just about anything!  :naughty:

Yes, Thursday has always been included.  I have been going into the showfield on Thursday at no additional charge for as long as I can remember.

Yeah that's just it - by having everyone start earlier they just wrap-up earlier.  Back when I had the e-body I went back to a vendor at noon'ish on Sunday and he had already put away most of his stuff and was taking down his tent.  He had to rummage through his trailer to find the speaker grill I was looking for.  (And then the bastard still wouldn't negotiate his price...)

Then again, maybe that's what Carlisle Events is hoping - get the field cleaned up earlier on Sunday?  I dunno...
