    Alan, is the argent bubble original to this car?  FWIW, I have never eaten Grey Poupon, but do have a numbers/docs V code 4 speed Hemi Orange Superbird that I think is worth no more than this car.  You can always find Superbirds to buy  :2cents:

    I believe the shaker bubble should be black. Argent was a personal choice of the owner at the time.
    Was there any documented argent shakers in 71 ?

    Seems like I recall an article on a gold 71 n96 Challenger that came with an argent bubble.  Wouldn't surprise me if a few did come argent, I think we all know never say never with these cars.

    No, car has never left MI, I am the 4th owner, bought new at Monicatti in Detroit.  I have had it for 9 years.  Seems like I remember a twin to it a year or maybe a little longer ago on ebay.  Don't know if that is the one your thinking of?

    Lots of documented argent shakers in '71.

    Theoretically they were all to be organosol black, but the silver ones pop up throughout the production runs.  e.g. silver was not just on early production cars, but all through the 1971 model year.

    I have been to facility....about 3 years ago. Drove up and met a friend of mine that lives in Toronto and then he showed me the way to the place. Barrett-Jackson prices. Went to see a 69 Hemi, RR, convertible. Way over priced and would not budge. All the vehicles at that time were over priced and I take it that they still keep them overpriced. He is a sponsor at Cars-on-line.com, so a lot of his inventory is listed there also.

    This is a car I was looking at a while back, seems priced pretty good for an AAR. I personally would never buy an Auto, so unless the column shift kills the price it seems like a decent price for a numbers matching AAR.  :dunno:  Some things seem high, but others seem reasonable. Don't forget that some of these cars are on consignment, so they may not be setting some of the higher prices.

    If you ordered an automatic transmission, you got a column shift reguardless. 
    Most people didn't realize you had to order the console shifter as a seperate option so it got over looked.

    That was the story on a 1970 RT/SE 440 a friend of mine had.  The car had every bell and whistle possible for the car except it was a column shift.  He did find a small pillow so the girls could sit on the hump between the seats at drive-in theaters so he learned to live with it.

    I'm thinking that car is priced a little too high also. It is however #'s matching with all the goods, not to mention  "it's a ragtop". Nobody is gonna "steal" this car! I have been watching these cars for years and ones like this command a high premium, I know it and so does the owner of this car. This one will end up in a collectors garage if it is as good as stated. By the way tommy, next time you find nice #'s matching big block for $65k, let me know.

    Here are just a few BB's available for well under $100k, and some are convertibles. I think the 70 chally convertible is especially interesting at "only" $45k. It looks like it could be a clean california car. Anyone know it?
    The 70-383 cuda convertible is asking $85k with a rallye hood and I am sure all these cars can be had for less.
    Point is, if you are willing to look hard and travel you can find really nice "semi-affordable" 70-71 ebodies
    Not to mention nice BB tribute cars like mine, which can be found in the $30s all day long.
    In the end, it depends on what your cup of tea is. High dollar numbers matching cars are just not for me, even if I could afford one.
