CC.com Hall of Fame
« on: February 27, 2013 - 10:09:29 PM »
Like many on this site I've been around bit and come to know and trust many members on the site (even people I've never met in person).  I was thinking there has been some really fantastic knowledgeable helpful people here and it would be cool to acknowledge them with a CC.com Hall of fame.  I can think of several people who I think should be in the CC.com Hall of Fame, but to be fair there should be some ground rules like numbers of years active and a member vote.  What about only having one person inducted in the Hall of Fame each year and doing it at Carlisle?

Just a thought....
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Very cool Idea, Cody.

Maybe set up some nominees by a certain date then vote?  :dunno:  There a a number of guys I can think of... :grinyes:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I'm sure we all have the someone in mind for the first inductee, but I think the first step would be to come up with some qualifications.  Here's some ideas for requirements to be eligible for the CC.com Hall of Fame:

1: Minimum of 5 years of active membership to CC.com

2. Only one inductee per year. (this keeps it special)

3. Minimum of 1,000 posts with no more than 400 per year counting towards the total

4. Once a year nominees are voted in with a poll.  Nominees must get at least 75% approval rate to be accepted.  If more than one person receives more than 75% then the person with the longest active membership gets in.

These are some ideas about how to set the standards so the Hall of Fame means you've been around long enough to know everyone here, have contributed to the board members, and have an overall positive influence on the site...  We could also just select a small group of moderators to make the sections too, but it's nice to be voted in by other members.  A special subpage page area would be nice where new members could look and see who's been part of the great history of this site with a little write up about them and their history in Mopars.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Also, I think we should just start the Hall of Fame with the guy who has done more to help members here than anyone else.  Neil should be the first one in.

And since this was my suggestion I think I should be ineligible for at least two years.  While I'm a big believer and supporter of this site, it wouldn't feel right suggesting a Hall of Fame and then asking to be in it.  This really is for the guys and GALS who have made this site so great.  Lets keep in mind some of the old time guys and gals who got us to where we are today too.

Good idea!
Hopefully you won't need to be at Carlisle to be awarded.
I would love to go to the Mopar shows of shows, but lack of funds
And, our CC.com Members in Europe, Australia, Asia, South America, etc, may not be able to travel to Pennsylvania.
Thanks for taken my thoughts into consideration.
All that being said, I still think that it's a pretty cool idea.

I would like to nominate Neil also. If it would not be for Neil changing the direction of my WIW thread. I would have sold my precious Challenger. And also with all the help from the great family of CC.com and DC.com sending pms and their financial support. Have helped me so much mentally. But Neil is the one that got the ball rolling on this. And you guys and gals have no idea how much this has helped my mental attitude .  With out the mental strength , I really do not know if I could be trying to beat the physical pain. Thank you , Neil and our wonderful family here.  :2thumbs:

I think a Hall of Fame is a great idea!  I was a forum moderator & admin on a diecast car collectors site for a few years and we had a Hall of Fame.  We didn't have any black and white criteria.  It was up to the moderators and admin staff to nominate and agree on who was to be 'inducted'.  One of us would nominate someone who we thought should be inducted, we'd have a discussion and the decision would be made.  Usually the discussion went - 'I thought they were already in the HoF' or 'Absolutely, why haven't we thought of him before!!!'.  There are those who are deserving of the honor and they stand out and are usually pretty easy picks.

We decided not to do a public vote just incase someone was nominated and didn't get voted in.  Puts lots of people in a bad situation.

We stayed away from post counts becuase there are those that didn't really contribute or had nothing of value to share but had high post counts.  I could have a through the roof post count if I replied 'Cool' or 'Neat-O' to every thread, which is what some of those members did.

We trusted our gut feelings and worked out very well for us.
