Different versions could be either VW based or tubular frame,the ebay one is tubular.

Yeah, VW or V8 but most were VW based.

I see those pop up on craigslist once in a while locally.  Cool looking cars IMO but that one is too pricey, even with the V8.

The deal is a lot of those cars can have a V8 shoe horned in it but the handle can't match the acceleration with VW suspension parts unless you go to a full custom tube frame.  This one looks to be a special version of the Kelmarks and has a nice suspension setup.
