I currently have the B&M Megashifter Ratchet Shifter that came with the car.  I have it integrated into the factory console.  Its a decent shifter, given me zero issues in the past 10 years or so.  However just thinking it might be time for a change.  I have most of the parts for installing a slapstick, but i am also somewhat interested in the Hurst Pistol Grip Quarter-Stick.  The idea of having something with a "pistol grip-esque" feel in a Mopar just seems like a good fit.  Curious to see what others are using and interested in reviews, pics, and recommendations.  Figured this might be a good way for others to share, and open up extra possibilities that others might not know about.

Here was the Quarter-Stick i was talking about.  I like the pistol grip style, and the location of the lock-out release, as it seems more "daily friendly" than some of the other lockout locations that almost seem to require two hands to activate.  The only thing i am not sure of is if there is a "gear indicator" optional add-on.  Granted I havent looked at the gear indicator on my current B&M in forever, but it might be nice if someone else has to move the car.

Thank you!

That quarterstick looks to be much the same as a B&M MagnumGrip I have in one of my cars.
I hate it. Not very user friendly in my opinion. It does have an aluminium casing with "gear indicator".
I prefer a B&M ProRatchet. If you screw the reverse lockout knob on the other side of the little lever you CAN activate it with one hand.
For something "daily friendly" it's hard to beat a slapstik.

NQKJW,  What is it about your magnum grip that you dislike for use as a daily? Is it just the overall feel, the engagement or something else?

CudaGirl4406pk, Thank you I will shoot him an email tonight!

I was wondering if you could use the red button on the quarter stick for an overdrive unit?  I'm interested in something you cant use with the console instead of a dimmer like switch on the floor board.  Sure looks attractive but I'm interested in why someone doesn't like that style too.

This one is not mine but someone with the same shifter using a stock 4 speed boot to make it look more like a 4 speed?

When manually shifting from 2nd to 3rd you need to pull that lever.Bit stupid on a ratchet shifter IMO.
I only used it because I picked it up brand new and cheap.
I'm told they are better suited to a reverse pattern valve body.
It looks impressive but I personally prefer the simple round knob as on a ProRatchet.
Maybe the Hurst operates dfferently.

  • Almost there, Boise Id.
I put this B&M star shifter in my car about 30 years ago. I have a transgo full manual shift kit in it so I get to play like it is a four speed. When you lift the handle and pull it all the way back it becomes a full rachet shifter. Just bang it forward once and it goes from 1st to 2nd, bang it again for 2-3. I like the way the T handle feels while driving. Wish it was a pistol grip tho     ::)
