Proportioning Valve
« on: March 03, 2013 - 06:53:35 PM »
During brake bleed of my 74 challenger rebuild, I discovered no fluid traveling to the rear brakes.  Upon closer examination, it appears that fluid is leaving the master cylinder and going into the Proportioning Valve.  When I took the rear line off the bottom of the proportioning valve, it was dry.  Does this indicate the valve is stuck and in need of replacement?  If so, can somebody recommend an aftermarket product?

I sent my original to the Ramman in Texas.

He can rebuild both your original proportioning valve & Distribution.

Your other choice:
Contact Fine Lines or inline tube.

Are you searching for an original look?  You can soak the originals in Evaporust or similar and then use Mineral Oil to remove any residue..  You can also partially disassemble them and clean them as needed.

If you aren't concerned with originality.  I believe several members here are using Wilwood adjustable proportioning valves.  This gives you better control over the pressure balance between front and rear.
