Panel Replacement Help
« on: March 04, 2013 - 02:43:55 PM »
I am working on the back half of the car now.  I have the trunk out and the tail panel out.  Do I need to put any temporary braces in if I cut the driver's quarter out now?

We didn't when we had to take the back of the car off after a big rig had its way with it. There isn't any weight that would be knocking things out of alignment. Just fit everything temporarily before you get to welding.  What I do recommend is take lots of measurements and record them.
Looks like you're doing a great job.  Wrap a rag around that trunk gutter sticking out on the passenger side before there's blood.

Thanks.  I appreciate the response.  Mine should almost look like yours by this weekend.  One thing I have noticed is that in 1972, the quality of workmanship was horrible.  The trunk extension on the passenger side was installed poorly.  I should have replaced it but I already installed the patch on that side.  Plus the funds are preventing me from chopping it out now.
