Hi,
I did a quick search on the forum for painted grills but did not find any answers to what I am about to ask.
My 1974 Cuda Grill is in perfect condition (no cracks) but the argent silver is not to nice anymore.
Can anyone whi has painted their 74 grilles post some pics, and what did you use for paint?

This is the place I had repair and paint my 1970 grills and buckets. I think they did a great job . . . very happy with the results!! If ya need info about the paint. . .this would be a great palce to ask! :thumbs:

I used a Dupli-Color Textured Metallic Coating Silver/Argente MX102 bought at my local auto parts store (Parts Source). It was a pretty good color match. I was pleased with how it turned out, even if my '73 is a driver. If you want show quality then you might choose to go a different route.

When I started the grille was in 5 pieces and a small chunk was missing...I should have taken a before picture. I used a Permatex PermaPoxy 5 min Plastic Weld cement for crack repairs and joining pieces (with some reinforcement). Very easy to work with if you need to do any crack repairs or build up small areas.

That looks really good!� Sounds like it was in pretty rough shape when you started!!� I thought that 74's had the hood release inside??� I know my 73 does??� Did a nice job!!� Looks great!!� �

Grille looks great, my 73 only has one crack down low above the bumper bracket, but the paint has peeled in� some places, so thats on the to do list also!�

4C, inside hood release was a high dollar option

, right after HEMI on the list!� :ack:(yea I know i bought the car 3 years too late, 360 was top dawg!)

Oh yea, year one lists the argent paints, but haven't used it so can't give a quality report, I only bought the wheel argent so far , not the textured! Rich.

My 72 grille is perfect but is a little bleached along the lower leading edge. Funny though when its wet, it darkens and blends in with the original color. I should get a pic of this its kind of like a chameleon. I dont want to touch it unless I have a dead-nuts match for the original dark argent speckle pattern.

Cuda2002 - your car looks SLICK but the grille paint is too bright-metal to match my grille
