Wiper plug
« on: March 06, 2013 - 09:02:00 PM »
I have a 70 challenger. I am going through the wiring now. I have a two speed wiper motor and from some other pics I have seen I believe I have a 70 two speed switch. My question is- There are two wiring plugs that plug into it, a gray one with 2 wires and a black one with 4 wires. The gray one plugs onto switch nicely, the black one, no matter how I try to attach it, misses one connection. Seems to be wrong plug end. Does a wiring harness from a later year have the black plug configured differently? Someone switched some of the interior from later year I am finding out. I wondered if he changed harness also? could I have a 70 wiper set up with a 71? or up harness? Any help would be great!

If you're plugging into a variable speed switch (like the one with the little "25" sticker on it in Bullitt's link), there will be one spade left bare--that's just the way it is--don't know why.

Okay, I've got it straight now

First one is a 2 speed, top spade in pic has no connection AND NO "W" spade for the brown wire.

Second one is a variable sp., again, top spade in pic has no connection BUT there is a "W" spade for the brown wire.

I distinctively remember the very first time I played with this plug I had the same concerns. Back then I decided to just plug it in whichever way it went and hope for the best. Of course it worked out fine.
